Be Still and Know ...
by J. Yvonne Johnson
Passage from the Book:
Hell is kicking up dirt around my heels; Belzebub is chasing me into hysteria; and I have an eerie feeling I might drop dead right here. I SCREAM! Begging you, Lord, to PLEASE let me see my kids ONE MORE TIME! I hear them crying for me. My feet won't stay still, dancing frantically, running wildly from one end of the house to the other. Popping and tapping; this heart of mine- slapping and pounding like thunder inside a bongo drum- while my sweaty palms grip the knob at the front door. I yank. It won't turn. I pull. The door stays shut! Suddenly, I freeze. Cemented to the floor, when, like a flash, these crazy feet, spooked and unchecked, take off running even faster. Sprinting aimlessly toward the bathroom. I grab onto the shower pipe, but it snaps! The flimsy rod breaks in two, and I shriek, screaming even louder. Call 911! Crying out through an open window. "Somebody, call 911!" while I'm standing in a dry tub.
